For the first time, a tech summit that will see up to 20 global tech giants attend the InterContinental Golf Resort & Spa in Natadola next month.

Known as the Fiji Tech Summit, the official event kicked off in Suva on Thursday.

The event was organized by Datec (Fiji) Pte Ltd.

The summit is considered one of the largest IT events in the Pacific region, which will give attendees the opportunity to learn about the latest technologies with up to 20 global tech giants.

Datec (Fiji) Pte Ltd Managing Director Satyen Singh said the summit will be the biggest tech event in Fiji.

“It’s the most exciting event of the year,” he said.

Mr. Singh said the technology vendors who will participate in the two-day event are the global changemakers.

“We know that technology continues to be the main catalyst for change in the world and it is the technology players who make innovation a reality.”

Mr Singh said the contingents would include more than 70 international members traveling from several countries around the world.

“In total, the event will welcome more than 200 delegates and at the same time create business opportunities for the hospitality industry.

“The event will see over 70 overseas vendors and delegates come to this event, introducing Fiji to various global vendors who could help convince global tech giants to host their other future events in Fiji.

“It would also allow professionals to develop their talents to learn from global experts and understand the evolution of technology while shaping our ICT industry and access to leading global technologies under one roof.”

Mr Singh said the reason this is happening is because they want a convergence of the world’s greatest innovators with the best from Fiji and the region.

“We want convergence where technology innovators, business leaders and businesses from Fiji and the region come together on a single platform to share ideas, work on ways to improve productivity and contribute to the future. ‘digital acceleration’.
