Hitron’s high-split portfolio supports software-switchable reverse channel up to 204 MHz to improve upstream capacity in DOCSIS 3.1 networks
Centennial, CO – September 13, 2022 – Hitron Technologies will showcase its high-speed DOCSIS 3.1 solutions at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2022. Broadband support increases upstream capacity on DOCSIS 3.1 networks, enabling cable operators to offer faster speeds and meet consumer demand for increased upstream bandwidth.
With a high-speed configuration, Hitron DOCSIS 3.1 gateways, EMTAs, and modems are capable of supporting bidirectional traffic of over 2 Gbps downstream and over 1 Gbps upstream. High-split architectures are used to increase upstream bandwidth in current DOCSIS 3.1 networks, as well as future DOCSIS 4.0 networks. While many North American networks have an upstream spectrum range of 5 MHz to 42 MHz or 85 MHz, the high separation increases the range to 204 MHz. With this increase in usable spectrum, cable operators can offer Gigabit uplink speeds on their HFC networks.
Hitron products feature a software-switchable feedback path that allows operators to remotely switch between 5-85 MHz and 5-204 MHz at any time. As a result, they can easily upgrade customers to more lucrative next-tier upstream speeds without changing hardware or dispatching a technician.
“Over the past few years, the increased use of video conferencing to work and learn from home has really driven demand for upstream capability. We have seen strong interest across the cable industry in high-split architectures as a way to cost-effectively increase upstream bandwidth today without having to upgrade to fiber,” said Greg. Fisher, president and chief technology officer of Hitron Americas.
Hitron’s broadband solutions include DOCSIS 3.1 gateways, EMTAs and the following modems: CODA–5712, CODA-5719, CODA-5810, CODA5814Q, CODA-57 and EN2251-HSP. The company will showcase its broadband solutions at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2022 (Booth #4037) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, September 19-22.
