Organizations have ranked the top three negative consequences of an attack as customer attrition, loss of IP, and damage / disruption of critical infrastructure.
The main findings of the report include:

âTrend Micro’s IRC continues to be a useful tool in helping businesses better understand their cyber risk,â said Dr. Larry Ponemon, CEO of the Ponemon Institute. âOrganizations around the world can use this resource to prioritize their security strategy and focus their resources to best manage their cyber risk. This type of resource is increasingly useful as harmful security incidents continue to be a challenge for businesses of all sizes and in all industries.
Among the two main infrastructure risks was cloud computing. Global organizations gave it a score of 6.77, ranking it as high risk on the index’s 10-point scale. Many respondents admitted that they were spending “considerable resources” to manage the risks associated with third parties, such as cloud providers.
The main cyber risks highlighted in the report are as follows:
- Man-in-the-Middle Attacks
- Phishing and social engineering
- Fileless attack
The main security risks to infrastructure remain the same as last year and include organizational misalignment and complexity, as well as infrastructure and cloud computing providers. Additionally, interviewees identified customer turnover, loss of intellectual property, and disruption or damage to critical infrastructure as key operational risks for organizations globally.
The main challenges of cybersecurity preparedness include the limitations of security officials who lack the authority and resources to adopt a strong security posture, as well as organizations struggling to implement security technologies. sufficient security to protect their data assets and IT infrastructure.
